Stir-Fry My Way

Every so often I get a craving for something stir fried. I don’t have a particular recipe that I use. I just kind of think about what I want in my stir-fry and throw it in there. :-)  So, here’s the most recent version of “Stir-Fry My Way”.

First chop up what ever veggies…

Egg Muffins Anyone?

This is a follow-up to my last blog post. I just made more Egg Muffins, and I wanted to share the delicious outcome with you. I changed the recipe a bit and added six organic eggs, chopped onions, grated cheeses and turkey bacon. If you want them to puff up a bit more than use 6 eggs instead of four and…

Authentic Chinese Beef Noodle Soup Recipe: Grandma's Kitchen

Now that I live off-campus, I've realized how much I crave home cooking. I didn't miss it while living off of dining hall food, but that's probably because they distracted me with differently disguised fat.

While I'm trying to eat a balanced, temporarily-omnivorous diet (earlier this week I realized that I haven't been eating enough protein), I try to find recipes that are more protein-based rather than carb-based. The good thing about this recipe is that it can be tweaked to reflect…

Pumpkin Pound Cake

This recipe I got from someone I really didn't even know and it was many, many years ago. I happened to be on a preschool field trip to a pumpkin farm with my oldest (who is now 26!) and another mom brought along some of this pound cake. I was able to get a copy of the recipe and voila I'm still baking it (it is definitely a favorite with my family)! This is the type of cake that doesn't need anything else to go with it. . . no glaze, no whipped topping, etc. It is so delicious all by…

Microwaveable Macaroni & Cheese

I don't know about your weather, but around here it feels like Fall even though it's still two days away from officially beginning. One of my favorite things about this season is eating comfort food and macaroni & cheese is one of my favorites. This recipes sure beats the stuff in the blue box hands down and it truly is super quick. It is a great "during the week when you're busy" kind of meal. You can cook the whole pound of pasta and freeze half of it. Just unthaw when you want to cook…

Grilled Breaded Potatoes

September is known as National Potato Month so here is a new way to prepare potatoes.  I created this recipe one very hot day (of which we had so many of this summer!) when I didn't want to use my oven.  Everyone liked them so I'll definitely be making them again.…

Buta Kimchi (Pork Kimchi Stirfry) @ SakuraHaruka.Blogspot.Com

Today was a hot day, so I didn't have much appetite. All I wanted was something savoury and spicy, so I cooked Buta Kimchi (豚キムチ, pork kimchi stir-fry) for lunch. Kimchi is obviously from Korea, but the Japanese have a pretty darn good version of it. Well, in my opinion at least. I haven't tried an authentic Korean Buta Kimchi yet haha. Sorry, I don't know the original Korean name of this dish too.

Dad was in Korea recently for work and brought back huge packets of Kimchi… Continue
