My Once A Year Movie Review

Hubs and I went for our once a year movie date over the holidays.   We went to see "So This Is 40?"    Yet again I pick a movie that the only funny parts are the previews.   Le sigh.   Hubs is not a movie guy and usually I'm laughing like a hyena while he's sighing and looking at his watch.    If you are dying to see this movie and don't want to know anything then don't read any further.  I will so spoil it for you.   …

Thoughts on the movie Big Miarcle...

Just saw the movie "Big Miracle" which is about the rescue of whales trapped under the ice in Alaska back in l988.  Big Oil; Big Government; Environmentalist; Media and I believe good will came together to attempt to save three whales (the youngest at 9 months did not make it).

Time Passes

Yesterday was my fathers bithday... way back when in 1941 he changed his birthyear to join the Army.  As a result he claimed three different birthyears and had records to support it.  He claimed to be 21 in 1941 but could have been as young as 16.  I call it time passses.

The Mom Version: Twas the Night Before Christmas

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through our abode,
the only creature stirring was Mom, carrying a load.

waiting for Mom to fill them with without pulling out her hair.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of the Elf on the Shelf leaving with Santa danced in their heads.
And Dad in his recliner, with the dog in his lap,

Lets remember our military and families this christmas

Ok this is a post that is very near and dear to my heart and i wanted to share this with you. My husband served 13yrs in the united states army and recently got out back in february. We went through 4 long grueling deployments and he missed out on most birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, etc. This year i am lucky enough and more importantly grateful to have him home with us for the holiday season which is something most military families aren't so lucky to get. When you are married to a…

Why Meditate

“Well, when you’re relaxed, your mind takes you to the whole reality. There’s no such thing as time when you’re really relaxed. That’s why meditation works.”

… Shirley MacLaine

In life, there are so many things we feel are out of our control. But, there is one thing we can have complete control over; our own state of mind. In Buddhism this is the most important thing one can do. Buddhism teaches that it is the solution to not only have control over but take ownership…
