30 Things to Start Doing for Yourself

I saw this post over at The Unbounded Spirit.  It was originally posted at Marc and Angel (authors of 1000 Little Things Happy Successful People Do Differently). It's such a wonderful lesson that I just had to share it with you folks.  #1. Start spending time with the right people. – These…See More

Road Trip!

It was a simple quest. Andrew and I were going to take a relatively quick 5 1/2 hour road trip to the Capital District so we could get India from college for the summer.  But someone had decided her van wouldn't make the 30° grade of the Driveway From Hell over the winter and parked it. Not in the barn on the hill, where it would be protected. Nooo.  I parked her in the driveway and let her sit - under 3 feet of snow - untouched.  Now we were facing the consequences.  India's last class was…See More

Spice Tips and Health Benefits

It’s important to periodically check your seasonings to make sure that they aren’t getting too old. Here is a guide, according to McCormick spices. • Extracts: 4 years (except for pure vanilla, which lasts indefinitely)• Ground spices: 2-3 years• Herbs: 1-3 years• Seasoning blends: 1-2 years• Whole spices (such as cinnamon sticks and peppercorns): 3-4 yearsWhen you think of herbs and spices, you probably think of cooking and adding them to add some flavor to your cuisine. Instead of being…See More

Vintage Ads that make you go "What???"

I have found so many vintage things around the internet and thought I would start sharing them with you all. For starters. How we begin with a look back and some ads that leave you wondering..."Babies who start drinking soda during that early formative period have a much higher chance of gaining acceptance and "fitting in" during those awkward pre-teen and teen years." I guess it would be…See More

Paddy, Not Patty

La Fhéile Pádraig Shona Daoibh!   Being 1/2 Irish, and a Grammar Nazi, I feel it's my responsibility to share this post from paddynotpatty:Solemn League and CovenantEach and every year millions of Irish, Irish-ish and amateur alcoholics are needlessly distracted from their Holy Tradition of drinking themselves into a stupor in the name of Saint…See More

Some Dreams Are Just To Bizarre To Explain

Sitting around with Matthew discussing prescription drug commercials and wondering about the various side-effects. So many to choose from.  How do the patients know which to select?  I mean, that's why they list them, right?  So you can go to your doctor and tell him which side-effect you would want. I think that is very thoughtful of the drug companies. Today one of the choices given was "unusual dreams".  Which makes us wonder - what is considered an unusual dream?  I don't dream often…See More

A Child So Few Can Understand.

The horrific events that took place in Connecticut last week have shocked the world. The thought of someone going into a school and killing innocent children in cold blood is so much more than we can fathom.  Just as frightening is the reaction of so many people toward the killer. So many people wishing his eternal damnation.  Being an avid internet user, I learned long ago how cruel people could get and I have chosen to ignore the hatred and anger running rampant. I decided to blog about this…See More

When ADD Goes Into Hyper-drive

Another Sunday.  Another day of rambling.  This time it was me, in a state of over-tired delirium writing random thoughts onto my bulletin as they popped into my mind.  I began by taking notes during the sermon. Note? Yes. More like note. I only wrote one sentence before my train of thought was derailed and never quite got back on track.   You see,  I had gotten to sleep at around midnight.  I figured since we would be setting the clocks back I could stay up an hour later.  Ah, yes.  Sleep.…See More
