Our Beck Valley Books Review of My Dream Man by Marie Solka 'The warmth of the characters shine through'.....

"Cupid's arrow strikes in the most unexpected places and for Samantha this surprisingly happened on her routine nursing appointment at a client's home. The last thing she expected was to fall in love for a client's son, who is a scientist, so not her usual type but leaves her sensationally hot and wanting more but will he feel the same way?

The warmth of the characters shine through which is always the case with the author, both as Marie Solka and Kim Cano, you will find yourself bonding to them really quickly. She seems to bring an enjoyable tale to life, inviting you to turn page after page to see what will happen next. There are so many words to describe this book, warming, soft, gentle, mellow, its a nice all round feel good read that leaves you feeling happy to have read it and leaving you with a happy glow.

This is now the third book I've read from the author and I've got to say I'm becoming hooked, each story is so different, especially this one as her first romance, yet they are so pleasant to read. An easy book to escape into and to be carried along their journey."

Our Beck Valley Books Review of ping: The Rescue of Eden by Stuart Avery Gold

"A very awe inspiring book even though it is only 84 pages long. This is the only book I have read in the series but will definitely look out for the others andread them.

The clever use of using Ping the frog to notice and act on the changes that happen around his pond is appealing to any reader. As other animals arrive he asks them while on their travels if they have spotted any differences, especially his long time friend Kamo, the duck, and together form an alliance to put it back as it should be.

The message from the book is a simple one, Mother Nature has ruled and governed the earth well before man and she knows how to solve the problems without any intervention. On the other side of the coin is that someone will do what they think is right for themselves without thinking about the consequences of their actions on others.

A book that everyone should read and it might change their views and help create a better world for everyone. The language and simple explanations make an excellent read and I think it should be introduced to the school curriculum and if the other books are as good as this one, they should be too. The book will cause a lot of debate regarding the best way forward for the planet and nature over money? Please read this book!"

Our Beck Valley Books review of Eclair Goes to Stella's by Michelle Weidenbenner 'A fun easy to read book that I really enjoyed'......

"Eclair is a cute lovable seven year old who you cannot fail to smile and laugh along with at some of the things she thinks or says and even misunderstands, just like a typical seven year old. She will also make you feel a little sad too but not for long as you soon start smiling again.

Eclair and her sister Meggie face a tough time as their mom has to go away because she is poorly so they have to go and live with her Grandma Stella for a while, until her dad can find another job. It's the important issues Eclair worries about like leaving behind her BFF (best friend forever) which is her first thought!

Yet with two simple words, horse and farm, as dad tells her about Grandma Stella's farm Magical Meadows, things just seem that little bit brighter. Stella has to be brave for now and learn to trust her Grandma and get used to her new surroundings living on the farm, you can feel her insecurities and sadness but her happiness shines through. Animals make the greatest friends and two lost souls, Eclair and rescued horse Lightning, help each other through their new adventure in life together.

I like how the author has also included a few little animal facts within the story itself that children can pick up without even thinking about it and the sketches in each small chapter are so much fun. The author treats you to a glimpse of the next book too, it looks like Lightning gets a new friend and maybe one for Eclair too.

A fun easy to read book that I really enjoyed , maybe that's because I'm a big kid at heart."

Our Beck Valley Books Review - The Dance of the Spirits by Catherine Aerie'a very emotive book'.......

"Set in a time of war the story follows two people from the different ends of the political spectrum. To try and find her way in life a young Chinese woman goes off as a medical surgeon to serve in the Korean War where she sees and absorbs the real truth and results of warfare. On the other side is American Wes Palm and their paths collide with an amazing outcome.

The true beauty of this novel is the insight of how tough and different it was for a Chinese woman to grow up and follow her own way whilst been dominated by a strict government regime. Also when people speak of war it's mainly always about the battles and the fallen but we tend to forget about the casualties and the people who tended to them without the appropriate medicine or equipment, the authors writing brings this horrible part of war to life with true reality. You feel that you are in the background of every scene.

The narrative is told from two sides but in truth they both want the same outcome the killing to stop and peace to reign. As these two people lives become entwined we are reminded that they are the innocents and the real guilty parties are the powers to be who are fighting for they own greed.

This is a very emotive book which will touch every single feeling you can have and will make you think differently about war and the after effects of it.

The first book I have read by this author but I am definitely looking forward to future publications."

The Fear of Things to Come by Author Kathryne Arnold is much more than I expected after Arnold’s first book (The Ressurection of Hannah). This is full of mystery and suspense. Written with such detail, that you can’t help but find yourself involved with the plight of Samantha. Things seemed to be going great for her… until the letters came and Todd vanishes. I will warn you that this has graphic and violent descriptions and an abundance of colorful language. As Samantha battles her psychotic adversary (clearly an obsessive monster), your heart may skip a beat or two as the tale twists and turns. Will this ruthless evil man leave Samantha hanging in the breeze? OR Will Samantha triumph and return to her safe and comfortable life? Will Justice prevail? The END will be interesting for the reader!!!!!

'The final book in this series... The Turquoise Tower by Author Travis Simmons draws me into his fantasy laden world' reviews A Gluten Free Mom.

This is the final book in this series, and Simmons does a great job of wrapping it up. All along I’ve NEEDED to know what happened to Amber…Now I do. I won’t spoil it for you, but it was a game changer! If you’ve been reading along with me, tell me your thoughts on Amber…If you haven’t been, what are you waiting for?

Simmons, as usual, does a fantastic job of drawing me into his fantasy laden world. I feel as though I am connected to Joya, Jovian, and Angelica. Their story, although not technically possible in real life has elements that I can connect with on an emotional level. I feel their needs and desires, and they are matched by needs and desires in my own life. The need to see the journey through to its end, the need to keep a hold of family no matter what. The themes are central to everyday life even when the setting is a different as could be.
