The Bonds of Blood Review (The Revenant Wyrd Saga #1)

Travis Simmons' book The Bonds of Blood was one of the best fantasy books I have read in a long time! In the beginning it was a little hard to keep up with what was going on because of the many point of views but as I read I became familiar with Mr. Simmons' style of writing. His descriptions were very vivid and clear.
The story of Jovian and his sisters, Amber, Angelica, and Joya begins with mystery. When their 21st birthday arrives they receive gifts from their deceased mother that they later learn will become more important to them than when they first received them. For years a secret has been hidden from the siblings that may or may not have prevented them from the mission of having to save their sister Amber who was kidnapped from her bedroom.
*Spoilers*
This first book of the series really helps you to grow with the characters. You're there with them when they lose their virginity and as they figure out their strengths and weaknesses. I really connected with Joya as she struggled with what is right and what is wrong. I can't wait to read the second book to see which direction she levitates toward. I'm also interested in finding out how Jovian will be brought back and if this family will end up with the weight of their entire realm on their shoulders.
I recommend this Series to anyone who loves fantasy or mythical books. There are so many different races and I'm sure there might be even more within the other realms, that will surely spark your imagination!

#Book Review - Scattered Links by Michelle Weidenbenner plus $50 Amazon GC #giveaway

"A deeply moving story of an innocent young girl called Oksana, through no fault of her own, lives in a poverty stricken part of Russia called Kazak. Living with her pregnant alcoholic mother and her aunt they are driven by hunger they steal and beg what they can, her mother and aunt turning to prostitution just to keep a roof over their heads. I say a roof but where they live is a cold concrete derelict squatter. When her mother gives birth, knowing that her aunt cannot afford another mouth to feed Oksana has to make a desperate heartbreaking decision just to survive. Following which without any warning or farewell to her mother, her aunt drags both Oksana and her baby sister to an orphanage with absolutely no intention of returning.

With feelings of abandonment they enter a world of further lost hope with only one intention of being reunited with their mother. Life in the orphanage is harsh but in time her baby sister Natalie is adopted by an American couple but Oksana rushes in tears to the meeting not to be parted with yet another family member, luckily the couple see the heartbreak and make the decision to adopt both. But can Oksana overcome her feelings of betrayal to her mother and allow the love of this family to be part of her? Can she believe in what they say and trust them, after such a harsh upbringing in Russia?

The way the author progresses with the story compelling, you cannot fail to be touched by reading this book. You are drawn to Oksana, feeling her desperation throughout this truly emotional read, the sadness of a child in a horrid and cruel adult world is immense. Yet joys of hope as her life takes a positive turn if she could only accept the genuine kindness from the people around her.

What I didn't realise while reading the book is the whole story is based on the author's own adoption experiences, bringing the strong harsh truth of Russia's orphans to light, which inspired her to write this brilliant work of fiction.

Completely and utterly recommending this high quality read by, you will not want to put the book down."

Lee Jackson Brings Heat To The Cold War.

His code-name is Atcho. He leads guerrilla fighters through the US-supported insurgency that rages at the Bay of Pigs in the early days of Fidel Castro’s Cuba. Captured and cast into the island’s worst dungeons, Atcho learns that a phantom-like officer of the Soviet KGB shadows him. Inexplicably released from incarceration and still dedicated to his country, he battles through the bowels of the Kremlin in Moscow, into the granite halls at West Point, and finally to highest levels in Washington, DC. Atcho’s rise opens doors into US National Defense even as the seemingly omniscient KGB officer holds unflinching sway over his actions. His public life clashes with secrets that only he and his tormentor share, isolating him in a world of intrigue among people whom he is determined not to betray – and then he finds that he is the trigger that could spark thermonuclear war.

Book Review - Curse The Moon Cold War Rising by Lee Jackson

Our Book Review
When this novel arrived through my letter box I just had to read it immediately and I was not disappointed.   It is based around Cuba and the Fidel Castro takeover of the island, which is one of my favourite periods in history.  This book had me hooked from page one to the end, every page was full of action, suspense and mystery which made me want to follow the Heroes plight and journey.

The story and characters make an exceptional read.  The main character is caught up in a web of intrigue and entrapment and an unknown source is holding sway over his actions and future which adds extra spice and excitement to an excellent thriller.

Excellent emotive writing really makes the characters spring to life and you really join in with their personal struggles making the reader wanting to whisper in the ears of the characters to help them through.  The research and knowledge that the author has really shines through and the descriptive images that are portrayed makes you think that you are wherever the action is taking place.

An excellent read full of historic content and questioning what was really going on the island of Cuba and who really did pull the strings, the Americans or the Russians, leaving the poor people to fight for survival.

This is one of the best books I have been asked to read and review for a long time and this author is definitely going to be on my list and if you like an excellent novel please read this one.

Blurb: It's 2127, and the future is at stake. But Abdi and Tegan must save themselves before they can save the world.

Abdi Taalib thought he was moving to Australia for a music scholarship. But after meeting the beautiful and brazen Tegan Oglietti, his world was turned upside down. Tegan's no ordinary girl - she died in 2027, only to be frozen and brought back to life in Abdi's time, 100 years later.

Now, all they want is for things to return to normal (or as normal as they can be), but the government has other ideas. Especially since the two just spilled the secrets behind Australia's cryonics project to the world. On the run, Abdi and Tegan have no idea who they can trust, and when they uncover startling new details about Project Ark, they realise thousands of lives may be in their hands.

A suspenseful, page-turning sequel to When We Wake that will keep readers on the edge of their seats and make them call into question their own ideas about morality - and mortality, too.
