Bye Bye GFC
So now that Blogger has said farewell to the GFC widget for all non Blogger blogs what will you use to to allow readers to follow your blog? I know I received a lot of emails to follow via RSS in place of GFC but there has always been a sort of "status" so to speak attached to widget itself that displays your amount of loyal followers. Now that GFC is not available for all what are your plans?
Also, I have to add that I think removing it was a horrible decision, it was so widely used by Bloggers, agree or disagree?

I've been using Networked Blogs, Bloglovin', and good old fashioned RSS.
I didn't like that they'd taken it away at first, but it's really buggy. So it's probably best.

I've added Linky Follower tool to my site and LOVE it. And yes, google sucks for getting rid of something EVERYONE counted on just because they want to own the universe. I used to admire Google. Not anymore. Their share policy across the blogosphere is making it really horrible for some. Just think what it's like to go to a google advertised connected site and get harassed about the fact you googled your need for help after your miscarriage, or your abuse, or even as innocuous as the embarrassment of targeted ads about contraception just because you looked up condoms once. It has happened, I've heard from many. What a terrible idea to connect everything so google can target YOUR preferences.

I forgot that Google targets your ads based on sites you visit/search, I guess they feel they are helping but I can see how that would be frustrating and how wrong it is that ads can be thrown back at you in a negative manner! I agree about creating their own universe and how they want to connect everything. I really liked GFC and am sad to see it go for those who don't have Blogger blogs!

My blog is hosted on blogger. So, I still have GFC. That being said (written), I have added Linky Follow to my blog. I really like it. It seems to be easier to use and more organized. I highly recommend giving it a try.

I will be adding Linky Followers also, I think it's the most similar following widget which is great- very smart idea! I also will still use GFC so that those with Blogger blogs can still follow that way. Lets just hope they don't pull the plug on that in the future as well!
